You can't "get it" from a book

Miyamoto Musashi is arguably the greatest swordsman Japan has ever known. His Book of Five Rings, a brilliant text on martial strategy, is recommended reading in many diverse martial arts schools (ours included). If you really want to understand Musashi's teachings though, you need to study his craft. Budo is not pure theory. You need to throw a punch, or in this case, swing a sword, to really understand it.

This is exactly what a handful of us were doing this past weekend in Mississauga. Soke Kajiya Takanori, the 12th headmaster of the school, in a direct lineage from Musashi was in town teaching Niten Ichi Ryu Tachi Seiho. Thank-you to Sei Do Kai for hosting an excellent seminar!
